The Rebel Group is an innovative Music Company based in New York. The company, which includes The Rebel Group label, Rebel Rebel Management and the brand new Rebel Synch TV & Film Licensing division, was founded by Thaddeus Rudd in 2003 initially as an artist management firm, representing artists such as Sweden’s Teddybears (Atlantic Records) and the Caesars (EMI/Astralewerks), and US rockers Lucero (Liberty and Lament).
Prior to setting up The Rebel Group, Rudd as partner in Feisty Management, which represented a variety of rock acts and was based in Chicago. Rudd began his career in College Promotion at Virgin Records LA office, and segued to the leading Independent Radio Promotion firm Jeff McClusky & Associates, where he did Alternative Radio Promotion. It was during this time that Rudd founded Sugar Free Records, which he and several partners operated outside of their day jobs, signing artists such as Beulah, Wheat, Elf Power, Jack Drag, John Langford and others.
As the music business changed, Rudd saw the need for managers to be able to provide distribution and marketing services for their clients. So, in 2005 The Rebel Group added a record label, distributed by Warner Music’s ADA Distribution. In addition to distributing recordings by Management clients, The Rebel Group Label has released 18 albums to date by buzzing new Alternative bands like Ra Ra Riot, Say Hi To Your Mom, Land of Talk, The Ark, Cloud Cult, The Forms and The Epochs.
Recently, Rudd formed a new partnership, Rebel Synch, which represents TV and Film Licensing rights for Independent Labels and unsigned Artists. His management background provided extensive experience in the TV and Film world- Working with Atlantic Records and EMI/Astralwerks respectively, these artists have been enthusiastically received by the TV/Film and Ad communities, resulting use by Apple (Caesars Jerk It Out iPod TV campaign), Cadillac (Teddybears feat. Iggy Pop Punkrocker), Intel (Teddybears Different Sound), and TV uses on shows like Entourage, Grey’s Anatomy, CSI, One Tree Hill, and many others.
Working in partnership with the LA-based Pangaea Entertainment, Rebel Synch is creating a new model for connecting cool, Independent artists with insider TV, Film, Gaming and Advertising contacts. Rebel Synch has launched a comprehensive website allowing clients from around the world to log in and search for songs. Additionally, Rebel Synch is at the forefront of the licensing business in working with Networks and Agencies to streamline business process of completing licensing deals.
