And The Winner Is....
After 4 months of incredible bands and singers we have finally arrived with the winning band. You Bring The Talent is proud to announce Atlantic Records newest signing: Limelife.

The first time I watched the video for Limelife's "Satisfaction Guaranteed" I knew it was something special. Here's a band that doesn't take itself too seriously but still has the chops to pull off the music. I immediately felt Iggy & The Stooges and some flavor of The New York Dolls coming out of Limelife. Here's the video.

Limelife's music doesn't try to be anything more than it is. Power pop with a punk edge. It's a trio of guys that met up in Hermosa Beach, California by way of South Carolina. Alex is the lead singer and guitarist, Beezer plays bass and Phillip in on drums.

My favorite song is "Obsess" -- the writing of both music and lyrics goes deep. That was an important thing to all the judges. We wanted to make sure that the artist we chose could have the best shot at a real career in the music business. And if you don't have the songs it's tough to make it very far.

Limelife has a great look and energy to them. Check out their Uber page here

We will be welcoming Limelife to the stage at the House Of Blues on the Sunset Strip April 28th. Then it's off to the studio with Peer Music to record and produce the EP that will come out on Atlantic Records.

Congratulations to Limelife for bringing the talent!!

There is a lot of bitterness in these comments. Good luck with that attitude. Limelife is just like any other band; they work hard and play music because they love it. There is nothing phoney about them and lyrically they are far more original than most. Take a look at their myspace, they have thousands of fans who love them.

limelife, another blink 182 band
Posted by Unsigned on April 18, 2008 9:40 PM
I always liked blink well Travis mostly... But I dont see the Blink 182 correlation, kind of a cross between MxPx meets Nofx with a strange fascination with Beastie Boys, at least judging by the video....
Nevertheless, this kind of music should be very popular with the teens....
My ten cents...

jonesy: from jeff, at least you were paying attention, but the one running this contest , how many years for him? and we have had to re-sign "elton" just a few times. oh wait , for this i like to be on the sideline.

Thanks Atlantic records for letting me on your site. But what I want to hear from you is a group with strong lyrics, good melody with vocal and lyric hooks. Rrather than following the crowd let hear some well composed music.. I really did not think power pop was so popular. Rittenhouse

Are we going to be told the 2 artists who lost to Limelife? We were told the rest of the 10 finalists , so it makes sense to reveal the 2 who came closest.

I am not a musician nor a singer, but I very much appreciate the hard work that
all these artists endure in order to pursue success in a very difficult and fickle
industry. Disappointment comes with the territory but should not be thought
of as failure. And, for those of you who are angry, spewing forth negativisms
to the fortunate few who were recognized, I say this. What makes you better
is the support that you show for your fellow musicians, as well as the industry
folks who gave you this opportunity. Perhaps one day you will "arrive" at a level befitting your musical prowess. Positive feedback and total support from fellow
musicians will be what you desire. Correct? It's a tough business. Limelife has
been given a special opportunity. Good luck to them. And, good luck to you all.

i am diggn limelife. they are having fun and doing what they love to do... just because it isn't what you like doesn't mean its wrong. i agree that they are a somewhat safe choice... but they make sense on atlantic.
Posted by  on April 18, 2008 5:47 AM
Personally, as a musician, I can tell what's good even if it's not "My thing". Uber and Atlantic dropped the ball here.
I don't agree that Limelife is a safe choice either, because the world is ready for innovative, break the mold artists and music now. With access to real music via iTunes, etc, people are open minded these days.
I thought Atlantic was well-rounded, with good taste. Now I think it's cookie-cuttter pop.

wow... there was a lot of good talent in this competition... and this? cheers guys, enjoy it!

Somehow all of the comments on my Profile page got deleted, lost, disappeared, ???? They are gone. They were very inspiring & meant a lot to me. If you can recover them for me I will be eternally grateful. If not I would greatly appreciate if my uber friends would return & leave new reviews. Thank you all for making me feel a part of things here. BTW - I also wrote, performed & produced all of my material. I am not upset about not winning. Too old & fat. But my voice has never been stronger than it is today and I am going to keep writing, singing, performing, recording & producing as long as I can. The positive comments I received from my peers meant more to me than mere words can say. So plz, if possible return them to me. Thank you for a great experience here at uber. Congrats to the winners. May God continue to bless your careers. There was so many many gifted & deserving artists here. I tried to help as many as I could. My heart weeps for those that worked so hard to rank so high only to be disappointed. But I urge them never to give up. Don't stop trying. I pray that we all find our way in successful situations before we die. smile Much Love & Respect, Crystal Cartier

Not giving a damn what people think, Ill say this. I feel there were so many other bands that a had a more unique sound. Unique is the key word, this is why I have always stayed away from these kind of competitions and the business in general.
I think Limelife is good, but I to be quite honest I have heard obcess five times, and I can't remember the chorus at all.
So, if it makes me unpopular so be it. But I can't disagree more with the decision. I single handedly can not believe Michael Steele or Sat Bisla would have ever chose these bands, its so far out of their comfort zone its not even funny. Come on Sat you discovered Dido, and so many others, what are you thinking. This wouldn't even get signed with Fearless or Drive Thru and now its on Atlantic, you guys should have polled before making a decision. Ill see everyone laugh at Expo this year.

~Someone in the real know

If you are "someone in the real know" why did you post as a guest and not let your name speak for itself?
Posted by  on April 17, 2008 10:17 PM
"Limelife" is not innovative at all. They sound like a million other bands out there, and dude's voice gets annoying, quick.
We deserve to know who the other two artists who came close were. Please release their names. We all hung around this dumb site for 4 months. Release the names.

What a joke Andy! I knew you guys had been hard up for a solid act lately. But this is worse than crap, I guarantee you'll never sign them to a full length. Which just goes to show why you started in the mail room, perhaps you should go back. Your last few decisions have bombed. Yet another one.
My two cents.

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING FROM THE SIDE FROM ANOTHER RECORDING COMPANY, THIS WAS A PUSH TO DEVELOP A WEB SITE AND NOT TO DEVELOP A BAND, THIS WAS POORLY RUN FROM THE BEGINNING AND MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO TAKE A SECOND LOOK IN ORGANIZATION BEEN IN THE BUSINESS 32 YEARS, ITS NICE TO SEE I DONT HAVE ANY THING TO WORRY ABOUT FROM ATLANTIC RECORDS, UNIVERSAL RECORDS, HELPED SIGN ELDON JOHN
Posted by Jonesy on April 18, 2008 11:02 AM
Hmmmm, Atlantic - Kid Rock, Match Box 20, Led Zeplin, 60 years in the music business . . . sounds like they have made a few solid decisions. And Jeff, did you have anything to do with signing Elton John? Or were you on tthe sidelines for that too? Oh wait, you weren't in the "business" when he was signed. Looks like the "sidelines" is a good spot for ya!

AMEN JEFF!!!!!! Well said! (Except for spelling Elton Johns' name wrong) (I'll let it slide)
